After the Rollover, 08/25/02

Built Ford Tough
I'll admit, I never thought about how tough Ranger's were until after this incident. My brother and I both walked away with nothing more than bruised ribs, glass cuts, and a little road rash because the windows were down.

We landed on the driver's side roof first, then either proceeded to endo/roll or simply swapped ends and landed in the road ditch on the passenger's side.

None of the tires popped off the bead, and only one rim was scratched. Interior is still intact for the most part as well as most of the undercarriage.

My biggest fear with a spare tire carrier was whether or not it would stay in place in an accident. No bolts pulled out through the bed and the tire is still tight in the holder.

Too bad they don't make this bed bar anymore, they may claim they are only decorative, but this one went beyond the call of duty to save our butts. All of its bolts are still intact, and it is solid yet.

It may have bowed the bed, but it sure held in place.

This shackle was the only suspension piece that broke which also caused the leaf spring to bow. The frame was bent and Z'ed and the 9" housing was twisted along with an axle being bent as well as the carrier being cracked. None of the Fabritech components or front axle was damaged.
